The Shoulder Mount Prance is a preparatory exercise for doing the actual Shoulder Mount. This is also an excellent core exercise to develop your strength even before learning to invert. This video demonstrates hand placement and the movement:

If you find that you need more core strength and can only lift your feet a few inches off of the floor, try these core exercises to develop your strength in your abdominal muscles.
