You should also have a strong basic invert as well. This video demonstrates hand placement, pole placement on the shoulder as well as what the move looks like:
You can start to learn this trick form the floor first. Sit with the pole to your back and use the same hand placement. You will be using your core, arms and back muscles to curl your torso up, 'v' your legs out and hook them onto the pole to get into an inverted position.
